In 2017, I have tried to create routines to fill in the gaps of a crazy world. My morning routine includes taking Max out, meditating for at least 15 minutes, reading for about 30 minutes, and now listening to The Daily.
For the last ten days, my breakfast includes a deep dive news story. The stories have included
- what happened in Niger,
- how a plant in IN that promise to remain open closed,
- how the EPA has allowed chemicals into our systems, and
- the sexual assault allegations against Bill O’Reilly.
And today’s was about the Opioid crisis, told from a man who most likely lives within minutes of me.
Why You Need to Listen
Each episode takes about twenty minutes to listen to. Unlike the local news or cable news, it works more like a news-magazine. You hear an entire story that the NY Times has recently reported, but now with voices.
I listen to a lot of podcasts, but this one makes the most sense to start with each morning. It takes the news seriously. You hear from people affected by an issue or who have direct knowledge of a problem.
