In a search for the Soul Stone, Marvel Studios has released the trailer for Avengers: Infinity War. “An unprecedented cinematic journey ten years in the making and spanning the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios‘ Avengers: Infinity War brings to the screen the ultimate, deadliest showdown of all time.” Until a year later, when the sequel will come out with Ultimate Showdown #2. Or it might just be a relaunch of Ultimate Showdown #1.
Jim Zub, writer of the current Avengers: No Surrender storyline, tweeted some help to retailer on how to push his book at the movie. We do need a hit…
Is It a Hit? Listen to That!
The Beat highlights the sales charts for February 2018 with a bit of brighter news – incremental change. However, the warning is set – the big launches of the year need to produce hits, Otherwise, reasonable growth may not be enough.
Setting Up For a Hit?
Although we may need another Fresh Start after this Fresh Start, Bleeding Cool reports that Marvel is offer deep discounts to retailers for their orders. No one may need to wait for a second printing, but how many people will run in for the first printing?

Coming out of the Black Panther movie’s unprecedented success, Marvel Comics will release a four issue mini-series, Wakanda Forever: The Amazing Spider-Man, written by acclaimed sci-fi and fantasy author Nnedi Okorafor with art by Alberto Jiménez Alburquerque and Terry Dodson. Even if the title doesn’t really make sense, the series will try to bridge some of the favorites from the movies into the spotlight. “People have craved these types of characters for a while, and I don’t think that craving is going to pass; it’s something that is here to stay.” (Don’t tell David Gabriel…)
Long Live the New Gods
Twitter erupted after the news that DC has pegged Ava DuVernay to direct Jack Kirby’s epic New Gods. But the excitement immediately led to dream castings: Laverne Cox, Oscar Isaac, Idris Elda, Winston Duke, Lee Pace, a resurrected Klaus Kinski, Lakeith Stanfield, and of course, Oprah as Granny Goodness. (Mindy Kaling as Mad Harriet). No matter what, what will the Forever People and Desaad look like on screen? Lots of people will need to know who the New Gods are.
Outside Looking In
Den of Geek! reports that Bryan Hill will take over starting with Detective Comics #982 for a five-issue arc called “On the Outside,” which will kick off in June. Fresh off of his TV show and recent miniseries by creator Tony Isabella and artist Clayton Henry, Black Lightning will team-up with Batman. Looks like the book that has been about the Bat family since Rebirth will get an Outsider.
An Interesting Wedding Party
Before their nuptials, many people will celebrate in a series of preludes written by Tim Seeley. They seem to basically be fights between various “couples.” Like most weddings, this seems to be the start of something too long for its own good.
